How dare Fisher insult nurses union

Patty Fisher (Page 1B, April 28) left me wondering if I had actually just read her words. The California Nurses Association (CNA) has been around for a long time, and has fought for, and won, legislation that is protective of all patients and health care workers. As a registered nurse, who has cared for Silicon Valley since 1980, I have had a front seat from which to watch and participate as CNA has improved every year. As a union, it has brought me, finally, a wage commensurate with my contribution to the health care team, as well as health care for myself and my family. It has stood up for its members, on all levels, and we are proud to have a stake in our own organization. CNA is not a "boutique union." We have experience, substance and caring standing behind us.
